ALEX JACKSON COUPLING ALIGNMENT JIG P4 GAUGE – SM30D
This jig was created due to a couple of minor ‘niggles’ experienced while setting up the Alex Jackson Coupling. Namely, that a visual check was needed to ensure that the angles of the coupling were in the correct plane. Also that the jig previously used was metallic and when the time came to check the coupling on the rolling stock against a loco, the loco failed to move as jig was shorting the track!
When the coupling is offered to the jig, the knuckle will rest on the jig and the angles of the coupling can be checked, as can the distance from the knuckle to the buffer head.
Please note this is not a bending jig and is only used as a visual aid in checking the nose and tail angles of the coupling.
