DRD Transfers
DRD Transfers or Dry Rub Down Transfers, are an alternative to waterslides. From a model railway perspective the use is perfect for numbers and data panels, where the outline of backing/carrier film ruins many a model. The spacing of our transfers is traced from prototype photos rather than just generic spacing that many other transfers have.
Another advantage is that the model does not require gloss coating prior to application. We will not be taking custom transfer requests, however we would appreciate any suggestions of transfers our customers would like to see.
We have included a selection of images of the transfers on a Bachmann class 20/3 below.
Customer testimony - Will Thompson
“I’ve used waterslide transfers either as custom sets or as individual numbers and never been happy with the end result. I’m not patient enough for applying individual numbers which is too time consuming and all waterslide transfers I’ve used leave a carrier film and never look as good as factory tampo printed models.
I was lucky to discover DRD transfers and after my first try with them I don’t want to use anything else! For my class 60 renumbering I ordered numerals as a set for each loco which were perfectively spaced, in the correct font and super easy to apply.
Application is just removing the old numeral using T-Cut, aligning the new number set then a gentle rub with a soft pencil and it’s job done! So quick and easy! While not necessarily needed I applied a small amount of satin varnish with an airbrush to seal the transfers in and to match the factory finish.
I’m hoping the range expands as these are my preferred transfers.”
